Embracing Smart Girl Mode: A Journey of Transformation

If you’re new here, welcome to The Unschool. This podcast is all about breaking down traditional business norms in favor of intuitive and practical strategies for entrepreneurs and creatives like you.

In this episode, I’ll share my experience of going full **Smart Girl Mode** last summer and the incredible impact it had on my business. Wondering what Smart Girl Mode means? Let me explain.

Intuitive Business

The Shift to Smart Girl Mode

Last summer, I decided to make a major shift in my business approach. Inspired by my peers’ success on Instagram, I committed 90 days to a new strategy. The results were transformative: $178,000 in additional revenue and 40,000 new Instagram followers. Here’s how I did it.

Step-by-Step Strategy for Business Growth

1. Crafting a Framework

- I thought about my past self and the tools I desperately needed while growing my business. It took me four years to replace my corporate salary. Now, I could do it in three months because I learned to create a framework and get proof of concept.

2. Proof of Concept

- To validate my framework, I tested it with beta testers. The feedback on the Notion templates, AI prompts, and Human Design elements was overwhelmingly positive.

3. Reverse Engineering

-Setting a launch date and working backward, I ensured that I met my deadlines. I enrolled in Instagram challenges to improve my skills and consistently posted Reels for six months.

4. Automation

- I integrated automation tools like EverWebinar and ManyChat to handle the influx of customer inquiries and sales, allowing me to scale my business efficiently.

5. Content Creation

- I shifted my focus from creating for friends to creating for my target audience. This change in perspective helped me attract and convert the right followers.

6. Embracing Identity Architecture

- I fully embraced my brand identity of “no gatekeeping smart girls,” which resonated deeply with my audience and fostered a strong community.

Common Business Clichés: Should We Follow Them?

In the second half of this episode, let’s deconstruct some common business clichés and see if they hold up.

1. “If it's not a hell yes, it's a hell no.”

- This advice works well if you have sacral authority in Human Design. Otherwise, consider your unique decision-making process.

2. “Dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”

- Dress in a way that makes you feel magnetic and confident, rather than conforming to outdated norms.

3. “A busy fool is better than an idle wise man.”

- Hustle culture is outdated. Making time for reflection and creativity often leads to the best ideas and results.

4. “Never burn any bridges.”

- Generally good advice, but if someone is toxic, it’s okay to quietly move on.

5. “Fake it till you make it.”

- Maintain integrity, but embody the confidence and mindset you need to succeed.

6. “The early bird gets the worm.”

- Work at the time that suits your energy levels best. Early birds and night owls can both thrive.

7. “Never say no to an opportunity.”

- Focus on opportunities that align with your goals. It’s okay to say no to stay on your path.

8. “Don’t mix business with pleasure.”

- Some of the best business relationships can turn into friendships. Just maintain a healthy balance.

9. “Keep your head down and work hard.”

- It’s important to work hard, but also look up and seek inspiration regularly.

10. “Go the extra mile.”

- While it's good to exceed expectations, be mindful of your limits and avoid burnout.
